Wednesday, March 4, 2009, Lenten Series Profiles in Faith, St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, Lorain Avenue at West Boulevard: Ursuline Sisters Erin Zubal, Diane T. Pinchot, Ann Winters and Beverly Anne LoGrasso spoke of the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland’s decision to work to close the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (formerly the School of the Americas) to help gain peace in justice in the name of those who died in service to the Church in El Salvador. In 1980, Ursuline Sister Dorothy Kazel and three other Cleveland missionaries were murdered in El Salvador by members of death squads trained at the School of the Americas in Columbus, Georgia. About 50 parishioners and guests, including the parents of Sister Dorthy Kazel, attended the talk. Sister Pinchot is now serving time in federal prison for trespassing on federal property during a protest at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.
