Plain Press reporter Joe Narkin wins first place in International Association of Fire Fighters Media Awards Contest

(Plain Press, October 2009) Plain Press writer, Joe Narkin, won first place in the 2009 International Association of Fire Fighters (I.A.F.F.) Media Awards Contest for Best News Article for “Brownout of Fire Station #21 will have citywide impact” which was published in the November 2008 issue of the Plain Press.

The Cleveland Fire Fighters Union I.A. F.F. Local 93 entered Narkin’s article in the category of “Best news or feature published in a newspaper or magazine with a circulation of less than 100,000.” The contest featured 244 entries in 18 categories from contestants throughout the United States and Canada.

The International Association of Fire Fighters Media Awards Contest said the purpose of the contest is to honor “reporting and photography that best portray the professional and dangerous work of fire fighters and emergency medical personnel in the United States and Canada.”
