350 attend premiere of Where is Gina?

(Plain Press, November 2009) 350 people attended the premiere of Issac Visual Media’s (IVM Group) documentary film Where is Gina? A look at missing children. The premiere showing of the documentary film was held at Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Cleveland at 6800 Denison Avenue on Saturday, October 24th 2009. The film explores the disappearance of fourteen-year-old Georgiana (Gina) DeJesus on her way home from Wilbur Wright School on April 2nd 2004. The IVM Group appropriately held the film’s premiere in the heart of the neighborhood where Gina DeJesus’s family lives.

Among those joining the IVM Group in celebrating the production and bringing attention to the plight of missing children were Gina’s parents Felix DeJesus and Nancy Ruiz, members of the cast and crew of the film, Judy Martin of Black on Black Crime, family members of Christina Adkins who went missing near W. 25th and Clark in 1995, and FBI agents who are still working to find leads that will help them find Gina DeJesus and other missing local children.

The IVM Group hopes to use the documentary to gain national and international attention to the plight of missing children. They also hope that someone with information about the disappearance of local children will come forward. FBI agents believe Gina DeJesus disappeared from the corner of W. 104th and Lorain Avenue, Two other children Amanda Berry and Ashley Summers are believed to have gone missing from that general area as well.

Currently the IVM Group is working with local activists to pass legislation in Ohio to require immediate action when children are reported missing, similar to the Amber Alert for children that are kidnapped. The IVM Group promised to post information on the film’s website on how individuals can get involved in this endeavor. The website is www.whereisgina.com.
